Warren’s Words of Hate and Gang Rape of Lesbian; Huge List of Christian, GLBT Affirmative Churches

Wow…it’s a sobering moment when you stop to think that your sexual or gender orientation could expose you to a higher likelihood of being the victim of a crime that will probably be especially harsh because of the feelings the perpetrator has about you as a member of a particular group.
Unfortunately, it seems, Rick Warren’s recent hate-filled words towards the gay community may have already manifested themselves. Today it’s been reported that a woman in California has been gang raped due to being a lesbian. Click here to learn more.
To me, this proves what I’ve been saying, even to those among us, in our own GLBT community, who don’t get it and think ‘hate crimes laws’ are unnecessary. Try to tell that to someone who has been a victim of one (or knows someone who has).
On a lighter, more positive note, while reading about the above bad news I happened upon a lovely site by the name of SisterFriends and found the most complete list of Christian, GLBT-affirmative churches, all in one place I think I’ve ever seen. Now, if you are a Christian, you have no excuse not to get yourself some spiritual sustanence this week, should you so desire! There is no excuse for ever going into a house of Christian worship that doesn’t love you fully and unconditionally, exactly as you are!

The Sisterfriends site is near and dear to my heart….. I found a lot of answers to my Christian struggle there. http://www.christianlesbians.com Sisterfriends also has a yahoo group for lesbian christans. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SisterFriendsODAT/

There are more churches now than ever which are all-inclusive…. including the MCC church, various Episcopal churches, some Methodist, some Lutheran… there is a Catholic group called Dignity. You don’t have to feel that you don’t belong….. there’s a place for you at a church near you.
God made you just the way you are… and He loves you just the way you are….. don’t let anybody ever tell you any different.
