Congratulations to Iowa and Sweden in going on the record in support of legalized recognition of gay and lesbian love

Great news this week for the legal recognition of same sex relationships both here in the U.S. and abroad.  First here in the U.S.:

Iowa’s highest court, believe it or not, has ruled that Iowans cannot deny a same sex couple a marriage license.  Can you believe it?  In the heartland of America, long seen as more conservative than the coasts, Iowa becomes the third state to legalize same sex marriage!  Click here to learn more.  Or, for a more comical look at the issue from a supportive native Iowan, click here.

Of course, those who think this horrid will build a fight, so, just as in other states who’ve evolved to the point where gay marriage is being openly fought on some level, it will be awhile before same sex marriage in Iowa is no longer an ‘issue’.

Then, internationally, it has been reported that the country of Sweden has moved to legalize gay civil unions by way of parliament.  The new legislation eliminates legal distinctions between heterosexual and homosexual spouses, but does not force dissenting clergy to wed gay couples.

I want to thank the Iowa Supreme Court and Sweden’s members of parliament for going on the record for equal rights.
